Survey for the 2000 General Election
Do you want to be FREE in Texas, as the parent of your child, to be able to delay or decline a
vaccine that you feel is either dangerous or unnecessary for your individual child?
If the answer is yes, then this alert is for you! The general election is quickly approaching,
and there are several seats open for reelection in the State House of Representatives and Senate. We
have been working very hard over the last 4 years to position ourselves to pass a parental rights
conscientious exemption to vaccination bill in the state of Texas.
We need to know where to concentrate our efforts and I can't stress enough how important each and
every one of you is to legislators on our state level. We can do this together if everyone
does their part.
Complete the following 4 simple steps as soon as possible and before the
end of the day on Friday October 13th.
1) Identify your state Senate and House District Numbers:
Look on your voter registration card or link to the Texas Find Your Incumbent web page at http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/fyi/fyi.htm
2) Find the phone numbers for all your Senate and House Candidates:
Link to http://vaccineinfo.net/issues/candidate_list_2000.htm
and find the incumbents and all challengers running in your districts.
3) Call and survey the different candidates' positions using suggest script:
Not all candidates have a challenger and there are 15 State Senators who are not up for
reelection, but we still want to include them on the survey. Make sure you get the staff
person's name. If nobody answers, just leave a message with your name and number and the
sentiments of the first paragraph of the "Suggested Message" below.
4) Fill in the results on our online form:
I would like to compile and distribute the results as soon as possible and before the end of
the day on Friday October 13th. Link to http://vaccineinfo.net/issues/survey_2000_form.htm
Suggested Message/Conversation:
"Hello, my name is __________. I am a voting resident in this district. I would
like to know _______'s position on a health issue that is extremely important to my family.
With whom should I speak?"
"Would _______ support legislation protecting the right of parents to either delay or
decline vaccinations that they believe are either unsafe or unnecessary for their individual
child?"
[IF THEY SAY NOT SURE]
"I'd like to share with you why this is so important to our family ...."
"I hope you will consider supporting our position. Would you like some current
information why the act of mandating vaccines has become so controversial? What is your fax
number and your email address? Who can I call later today or tomorrow to get a definite answer
on your position?"
